Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Joy Signal (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. You must be at least 13 years of age to use Joy Signal. If you are under 18, you represent that you have parental or guardian consent.

2. Service Description

Joy Signal is a platform for creating and sharing digital celebration cards. Users can create cards, share them via unique URLs, and allow others to sign the card with messages, media (video, audio, photos, GIFs), and optional cash gifts. Joy Signal is not a financial institution.

3. Card Purchases & Pricing

Card creation is free. A one-time payment is required to unlock the shareable link. Standard cards are $5.00 USD and Premium cards are $15.00 USD. Optional add-ons are available at additional cost. All prices are subject to change with notice. Payments are processed securely by Stripe, Inc.

4. Refund Policy

Card purchases are eligible for a full refund within 24 hours of purchase, provided the card link has not been shared or signed by any third party. Once a card has received signatures, it is considered delivered and is non-refundable. To request a refund, contact hello@joysignal.com with your card ID and purchase email.

5. Cash Gifts

Joy Signal facilitates peer-to-peer cash gifts through Stripe Connect. Joy Signal charges a flat $0.99 USD platform fee per gift transaction. Gift senders authorize the charge at the time of payment. Joy Signal holds gift funds until claimed by the card recipient via Stripe Connect Express onboarding.

Unclaimed gifts: If a recipient does not claim their gifts within 90 days, Joy Signal will issue full refunds to the original senders. Gift senders may request a refund of an unclaimed gift at any time by contacting hello@joysignal.com.

Gift refunds: Once a recipient has claimed their gifts, individual gift transactions are non-refundable through Joy Signal. Disputes should be resolved between the sender and recipient directly.

Joy Signal is a technology platform, not a money transmitter, bank, or financial institution. All financial transactions are processed by Stripe, Inc.

6. User Content

You retain ownership of all content you upload (messages, videos, voice notes, photos). By uploading content, you grant Joy Signal a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, display, and transmit your content solely for the purpose of operating the Service (displaying it on the card). Joy Signal does not sell, share, or use your content for advertising or any purpose beyond card display.

You agree not to upload content that is illegal, defamatory, obscene, threatening, infringing on intellectual property rights, or violates any third party's rights. Joy Signal reserves the right to remove content that violates these terms without notice.

7. Card Permanence

Active card links are intended to remain accessible indefinitely. Joy Signal reserves the right to archive or remove cards that have been inactive (no views) for more than 24 months, with 30 days email notice to the card creator.

8. Age Requirements

Joy Signal is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. By using the Service, you confirm that you are at least 13 years old. Users under 18 must have parental or guardian consent. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will delete that information promptly.

9. Limitation of Liability

Joy Signal is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. Joy Signal shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by you in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via email or a notice on the website. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
